ACID ETCHING

ACID ETCHING

Postby marcib » Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:25 pm

A technique where a piece is covered with a resist and then the glaze is eaten away by a strong acid in the unresisted areas . This gives a shiny/matt look when gold or luster is applied afterwards.

Here is link to a lesson by Grace Noland on the technique ( which is dangerous and should only be attempted with proper protective gear ) ..

It is on the forum under Chinapainting techniques
