OK .. FINALLY ... here is my contribution to the challenge:

I started off making two different versions of a wave form in porcelain ...

The porcelain was rolled, hand-formed and then clear glazed and fired to cone 6...

I then added lusters and dispersed them with dispersing fluid to make the patterns, sprinkled in a little dry metallic gold paint into the wet luster ,fired again to cone 015, then I added a little liquid bright gold to the edges.

I eventually plan to string these up with stands of beads to make necklaces.. The beads in both cases will run through the center of the " wave".
ILl post pix of that when Im finished...

Wave 1:

with the luster added: I used carmine, turquoise and violet with mother of pearl on the top edges...( the colors are much prettier in person)
It also has a glass bead and natural pearl dangle

This is with the luster added: I used turquoise, violet and emerald..with mother of pearl on the top

This is both pieces with an idea of what the beading will look like :

Hi Jill,
they feel really nice...Ill make sure to bring them with me in September...
No, I havent fired the bone china yet... truthfully because I havent found it yet ... :) We hastily moved things out of my suitcases into a box because I had another show to go to ...and the box is somewhere in Rex's workshop... ( aka, the black hole ) .... but now that the weather is nicer, Ill be digging through stuff in there ... Im really anxious to see how the bc compares to my cone 6 porcelain ...

and thanks, Fran... Yeah, I love playing with the clay .... Having a great time at the NCECA conference, which is all clay people... Its a blast hanging around with a bunch of pyromaniacs... ;roflmao: They say that some of the wood firers are in it so they can legitimately light fires ;roflmao: ...and make some nice pots in the process...

hi Jill,
at least YOU have an excuse.. Youre moving... Im just hopelessly disorganized !! Either that or I have permanent :blonde:
I didnt get to Steve Tobin's party. IT was too bad 'cos I was looking forward to it... Sticking dynamite into a huge block of clay is my idea of fun ;thumps; ... but they were supposed t have a bus to get all of the Clayarters there and that didnt happen ... A few people drove and I was tempted to but it was a long drive after a long day ...

Christine, I know that you ll have some intriguing ideas brewing in your head.. cant wait to hear what you have in mind...

Jill....I was intrigued by your comment that you wanted to handle these pieces. YES....I was exactly the same way when Marci had them in Florida. I just couldn't resist running my fingers over the curvature of the wave and the pieces.......these are absolutely stunning to see in person. Again...the photo although good just doesn't to them justice. Wait till you see them in person in September!
LOVE 'em Marci!

Thanks, Becky and Jill ......
I think thats one of the things I love best about making porcelain ... There is something very sensual about running your fingers over the glaze.... Its very velvety feeling...

Jill , I cant wait for you to get into clay .... I think you will find that youve found your home... Thats exactly how I feel .. I think you ll find that you will then TOTALLY be able to express yourself...
