Your favourite gallery

Postby eganj1 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 4:14 pm

What;s your favourite gallery?

Mine is the Lady Lever gallery in Port Sunlight

http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/lady ... ntings.asp

It has a colletion of Pre- Raphaelite paintings, as well as work by many of my favourite artists including Turner, Stubbs paintings on porcelaIn, Jasper ware by Wedgwood, paintings by Singer Seargent, Munnings , Alma Tadema, the list goes on. A lot of these paintings are unashamedly chocolate boxy, one of the reasons could be that Lever bought paintings to advertise his soap products

THats a very interesting museum, Jill.. One Id love to see..... ;thumps;

I like the Getty in Los Angeles : http://www.getty.edu/ .. They have a pretty vast collection of all kinds of artwork ...

But my favorite is the San Diego Art Museum because they house my favorite Bouguereau :
http://www.sdmart.org/ ... I can still remember walking in and thinking:" Gosh , I wish I had researched this museum before we came because it would be nice to know if they had a Bouguereau .." .. and then , just as I had that thought, I turned and walked into a side room ...and there it was!!!! ......Not only a Bouguereau ..but my favorite one... WOW !

I used to anways enjoy walking the Albright-Knox gallery in Buffalo , NY as well ..
http://www.albrightknox.org/ , even though it is mostly modern art... It s a cool museum ..
